Broken Foot

Well, I heard a crash in Maddie's room one day followed by a ear-piercing scream.....I went running in there to find her laying on the floor saying her foot hurt. When I got her to calm down, she told me what had happened. She was climbing on her frog chair (more like a pillow than a chair) to turn her blinds to see Marty out front and fell and hit her foot on the bookshelf we'd just put in her room. LOVELY!!! I got her to calm down pretty easily and wrapped her foot in ice and laid her down for a much needed nap. Well, she woke up from her nap not putting any weight on her foot and when she tried to put it down and walk on it, she started crying saying it hurt too bad. So, I called her doctor and they said to bring her on in and have it checked out. They sent us across the street to the pediatric imaging place for an x-ray and low and behold, it was a broken foot!!! Of course, it was late on a Friday afternoon, so we had to keep it wrapped in an ace bandage over the weekend until we could get in to see the orthopedic doctor the next week. Well, she learned how to walk on it by then and walked "normal" into the ortho doc's office that next week. So, I was thinking all would be fine cause she told me that it didn't hurt anymore and she was walking very well when the ortho doc came in and said she needed a cast, that she had indeed broken her foot and it was not healing with just the ace bandage! They gave her several options of colors: pink, green, blue, purple, and what does my little darling choose......GREEN!!! What? I thought for sure she'd choose purple or pink, which I thought were her favorites, but no, she chose Green!! All I could think of was that it was gonna be that ugly flourescent green! YIKES!! I have nothing of hers to match that color and it's gonna stick out much more in a flourescent green color! Luckily, it's not that bad a shade of green. And to my surprise, when we got home, she had a lot more clothes to match it than I'd realized. :) The Physician's Assistant, Tim, was a guy who I must say was pretty cute, and Maddie must share my taste, cause she was doing some major flirting with him. He was a really nice guy who seemed to be fond of my kids as well as they were of him, so that was nice. *although, I don't think he was much interested in women, if you catch my drift* :) But, he was a sweet guy and helped Maddie get her mind off of it while getting her cast on. All day, she kept talking about Tim......oh brother....... Lucky for me, they now offer a waterproof cast! Who knew!?! So, we've enjoyed the funny looks from people at the pool when we let our cast-wearing child into the pool!!! Priceless!

I am so sorry! That is a bummer, but what a great blessing that it is waterproof. They have come a long way!
Hey, where did you get the beautiful background paper for your blog and how do you add a song? I still have much to learn!
