Well, I'm here to say that my grandmother, Great Granny Ruth, went to spend eternity with the Lord early Monday morning, June 16, 2008. We are thankful that she is no longer suffering from her congestive heart failure and is living amongst the angels. She was an AMAZING woman who was so strong and independent and we will miss her dearly here on earth. When her husband died when my father was a teenager, she did what I hope I could do if put in that situation.... she worked and put herself to college and got her degree to teach, to support and show strength to my father when he needed her most. She didn't give up! Never did. Even on her last night of life, she waited until we'd all said our goodbyes and given her kisses before she ran to the light. She knew she didn't want to leave us with the trauma of seeing her die in front of us. Thankfully, she had a nurse that must have been an angel among us. She took tender care of granny and was with her when she passed. She called my dad an hour after we'd left with the news. I'm glad she's not suffering anymore. That's not the way I remember her. I remember her for the strength that she had and instilled in us all. Maddie always LOVED getting to push her around in her wheelchair and climbed up in her lap often for a story. Of course Granny absorbed every minute of it. And I don't even know where to start with Isaac and Granny. They had a sweet relationship. He adored her and smiled at her often. She was always wanting to hold him and would get frustrated when she was too weak and couldn't support his weight anymore and had to pass him off. He was her "little monkey." She loved to sing to him "baby bye, baby bye." I think I'll always remember her voice singing those words. She was good at soothing him. She was so proud to have a boy in the family again. :) We told Maddie that she won't be able to see Great Granny anymore until we get to heaven. She was comforted with the fact that Granny is with Jesus and told me Granny went night-night with Jesus. Yep, little dear, she did. Here's to you Great Granny!!! We love you and will miss you!

What sweet memories you have of your Granny! What wonderful photos you have posted here of her with your BEAUTIFUL children! I am so glad that I was able to visit with all of you Friday, and I am also thrilled that you were able to meet my precious little Oliver. I have fond memories of each and every member of the Burkett family, and I am proud to be able to call all of you my friends. I know that this is a sad time, but just think how lucky you are to have had such a splendid woman like your Granny to share in your lives for so long!! Lots and lots of love, Anissa
